Astra Theatre Announces 2026 Lineup, Season Tickets Now Available
On December 1 the Astra Theatre unveiled part of its 2026 performance schedule and opened sales for season tickets, offering concerts, comedy, and two movie nights for downtown Jasper. The move matters to local residents because the restored 357 seat venue will drive cultural activity and economic traffic in the heart of the county while raising questions about access and affordability.

On December 1 the Astra Theatre in downtown Jasper announced a partial lineup for its ninth season since major renovations, and began selling 2026 season tickets. The package is priced at $300 and includes admission to 10 concerts, 3 comedy events, the annual Rock Lotto, and two movie events, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and a Christmas movie. Organizers said six more musical acts and two more comedians will be announced in the coming months.
Confirmed performers include Magnolia Boulevard, which will open the season on Saturday, February 7 with a mix of southern rock, Delta blues, Americana, and Appalachian influences. Vincent Neil Emerson, a familiar name in folk and country circles, will appear on Friday, March 27. Stand up comedian Dave Dugan is scheduled for Saturday, April 18. The Why Store will return on Saturday, June 13. On Saturday, June 27 Woomblies Rock Orchestra will present a larger scale concert featuring nine musicians including a four piece string section.
The Astra seats 357 patrons after renovation, making it an intimate performance space for local residents and visitors. That capacity amplifies both the cultural benefit and the challenge of equitable access. A season package can provide reliable support for the theatre and local artists, and it can help downtown restaurants and shops by concentrating audience traffic for evenings of entertainment. At the same time a $300 season price may be out of reach for many households in Dubois County, and limited seating means fewer opportunities for residents to participate.

Arts programming at the Astra can also affect public health and community wellbeing. Regular opportunities for shared cultural experiences contribute to social cohesion and mental health, especially in a county where community gathering places are central to daily life. The small venue size will require thoughtful crowd management and attention to accessibility for patrons with mobility and sensory needs.
As more acts are announced, local policymakers, community organizations, and health providers may consider partnerships or subsidy models to broaden access, and downtown businesses will be watching for the economic ripple effects. Season tickets are available now at AstraTheater.com and the theatre will release additional booking details as the schedule fills out.
