County to Hear Major Pahrump Budget and Land Use Items December Sixteenth
Nye County posted its agenda December 11 for a joint meeting scheduled December 16 that bundles multiple boards and unincorporated town governing bodies. The meeting includes high dollar emergency equipment purchases, park reconfiguration plans, a large solar project variance request, property valuation hearings and an Outdoor Festival license that could affect local traffic and commerce.

Nye County will convene a joint meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, the Board of Highway Commissioners, the Licensing and Liquor Board, the Board of Health and the governing bodies for unincorporated towns on Tuesday December 16. Timed items begin at 10:00 a.m. and were posted to the county website on December 11.
The agenda opens with the required monthly statement of the county treasurer under Nevada Revised Statute 354.280 and a public hearing to set fair market value on nineteen county owned parcels. Setting those valuations could determine which properties remain in public hands, which are offered for sale, and what revenue may be realized for county services and local taxing entities.
Also on the morning docket is a public hearing on an Outdoor Festival License application from Vegas Productions Incorporated for the Jordan World Circus, planned for March 11, 2026 at the McCullough Rodeo Arena in Pahrump. Approval would allow a one day event expected to draw visitors, impacting local hospitality and traffic patterns.
While sitting as the Licensing and Liquor Board commissioners will consider adding an additional licensee to an existing Beer and Wine license for K7 Pizza and Lounge in Pahrump, a routine yet locally relevant action for small business operations.
Items specific to Pahrump include an amendment to the Kellogg Park improvement plan to replace horseshoe pits with pickleball courts and a playground, with no change to previously approved capital improvement program funding. The shift responds to community recreational trends and will affect park users and programming.

A significant land use matter is consideration of a variance agreement for the proposed Dandelion Solar project, about 1,400 acres, seeking setback relief before filing with the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission. That request raises questions about renewable energy expansion, land use trade offs and potential community impacts.
Public safety funding is prominent with a purchase request for Self Contained Breathing Apparatus equipment totaling 806,649.43 dollars to be paid from the Pahrump General Fund Capital account. The agenda also lists appointments and re advertisements for several advisory committees including the Pahrump Arena Advisory Committee, the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee and the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee.
The consent agenda carries routine elected official collection reports and quarterly progress reports, including the Pahrump Valley Public Transportation report. The full six page agenda contains itemized consent lists, public hearing descriptions, supporting document instructions and posting locations and is available on the county website for residents preparing to follow the December 16 proceedings.
