Deer Valley Debuts Eddie the Moose, Launches Family Event
Deer Valley Resort announced a new mascot, Eddie the moose, and the release of a children's story and coloring book, Meeting of the Mascots, with a family meet and greet planned at Snow Park. The event, timed to coincide with Kids Ski Free Week, aims to expand access to outdoor recreation while spotlighting local arts partnerships and broader resort upgrades.

Deer Valley Resort unveiled Eddie the moose as its new mascot for the 2025 26 season and announced a companion children's story and coloring book titled Meeting of the Mascots, An Adventure Story and Coloring Book. The resort is hosting a family oriented meet and greet and book signing at the Snow Park base area on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. to mark Kids Ski Free Week.
Produced in partnership with Arts Council Park City and Summit County, the book and event are positioned as part of Deer Valley's broader family programming and ongoing Expanded Excellence resort upgrades. Planned activities at the Snow Park base area include a photo booth, cotton candy, a Kids’ Adventure Map, a retail pop up shop offering the new book and an Eddie plush, and an opportunity to meet artist Ashley Moore. The collaboration brings arts programming into a major winter sports venue at a time when communities are seeking more accessible family activities.
For Summit County families the event has layered significance. Kids Ski Free Week reduces one barrier to winter recreation, and a free community event with arts programming can help introduce children to outdoor activity in a lower cost setting. Public health research links outdoor recreation to benefits in physical activity, mood, and childhood development, outcomes local health officials have emphasized as priorities during the winter season. At the same time the event highlights ongoing issues of access, since lift fee waivers do not eliminate costs for equipment, transportation, and lessons that many households face.

The partnership with the Arts Council underscores a community approach that blends cultural programming with recreation, and it creates sales and visibility opportunities for local artists. As resorts invest in facility upgrades and guest experiences, community advocates say equitable access will require continued attention to affordability, transportation options, and inclusive programming for children and families across Summit County.
The Snow Park event will offer families a chance to meet the new mascot, purchase the book and plush, and participate in activities that aim to make winter recreation more welcoming. Organizers say the event will align with Kids Ski Free Week programming and with Deer Valley's expanded family offerings for the season.
