Dollar General to Open Three Major Distribution Centers Nationwide
Dollar General announced on November 21 that it will build three new distribution centers in North Little Rock Arkansas, Aurora Colorado, and Salem Oregon, representing a combined investment of roughly $480 million and the potential to create about 1,100 jobs at full capacity. The move is aimed at improving supply chain efficiency, expanding refrigerated and frozen distribution through the DG Fresh network, and growing the company private fleet, all developments that will affect hiring and operations at local levels.

Dollar General announced plans on November 21 to build three distribution centers in North Little Rock Arkansas, Aurora Colorado, and Salem Oregon, signaling a major expansion of its logistics network. The company said the facilities will represent an estimated combined investment of roughly $480 million and are expected to create about 1,100 jobs once they reach full capacity.
According to the announcement, each facility will be roughly one million square feet. The Aurora and Salem distribution centers are each expected to support approximately 400 roles, while the North Little Rock site is expected to support about 300 roles. The company described the centers as supporting both its traditional store supply chain and DG Fresh refrigerated and frozen distribution, and as part of an expansion of the DG Private Fleet.
Dollar General framed the project as an effort to improve supply chain efficiency and support store operations. The announcement also noted that career opportunities connected with the new facilities will be posted on the company careers site, pointing prospective applicants to corporate hiring channels for details about specific openings and requirements.
For workers the expansion means a significant influx of logistics and transportation jobs in three regions. Warehouse positions tied to refrigerated and frozen distribution often require specific skills and certifications, so the DG Fresh buildout could create demand for candidates with experience in cold chain handling and temperature controlled logistics. Growth of the private fleet may also translate into demand for driving jobs, fleet technicians, and other transportation related roles as the company brings more of its freight movement in house.
Locally, the projects could have broader labor market effects by increasing demand for entry level warehouse workers, supervisory staff, and logistics specialists. For employees already working in Dollar General supply chain roles the new centers may offer opportunities for internal mobility, training, and career progression as the company scales distribution of perishable goods and extends its fleet operations.
The announcement reflects a continuing industry trend among large discount retailers to invest in regional distribution capacity and private logistics to better match store assortments and improve delivery reliability. Dollar General said details about specific job postings and hiring timelines will be available through its careers portal, which will be the primary conduit for applicants seeking positions at the new centers.
