DPU Office Closes for Holiday Luncheon, Customer Care Briefly Unavailable
The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will close its administrative office and Customer Care Center for a staff appreciation luncheon on Friday, Dec. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Residents should plan visits and service inquiries outside that window, because voice mail and email will be handled after staff return.
The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities announced a temporary midday closure next Friday as management hosts an appreciation luncheon for all DPU employees. The administrative office and Customer Care Center at 1000 Central Ave., Suite 130 will be closed between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and customers who need in person assistance are asked to plan around that timeframe.
Utilities Manager Philo Shelton offered a public note of thanks, saying, “Our team has worked incredibly hard this year to support our community, often behind the scenes and in all kinds of weather. This luncheon is a small way to say thank you to employees across all of our locations for the dedication they show every day in keeping essential services running safely and reliably for our customers.”
Outside of the brief closure the DPU and its Customer Care Center continue regular business hours, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Customers with questions or service needs may call (505) 662 8333 or email CustomerCare@losalamosnm.gov. Voice mail and email messages left during the luncheon period will be addressed when staff return to their desks.
For local residents the interruption is short, and officials stress that essential utility services remain managed with continuity. The lunch recognizes employees who perform field, technical, and customer operations that keep power, water and related services flowing in all conditions, work that often takes place outside regular public view. By closing briefly during a midday staff event the utility seeks to show internal appreciation while minimizing impact on public access.
