The Dubois Branch Library released its January 2026 calendar, offering a broad mix of programs for children, teens and older adults that begin in early January and run through the end of the month. The library will be closed on Thursday, January 1 and Monday, January 19, and it encourages residents to plan around those dates when registering for activities.

Headlining the schedule is Winter Reading Bingo, running through January and February, with Bingo cards available at the library or through the Beanstack app. Readers who complete the card will receive completion prizes and one grand gift card prize will be awarded to a single winner. The library will also host a Winter Read a Thon on Friday, January 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with hot cocoa, reader prizes and snack bags for the first 10 participants. Motivational Bingo will run from January 2 through January 31 and invites patrons to complete activities for prizes.

Regular weekly offerings include Activity Corner for ages 8 and older on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m., with the January 20 session designated as a Lego Club meeting. On Wednesdays at 9 a.m. the Yes2Next program will provide light cardio and strength training for seniors and registration is required by phone. Fridays at 9 a.m. will feature Chair Yoga for older adults and people with mobility issues, with registration required and no class on January 16.

Special events across the month range from Card Playing Day for ages 18 and over on Monday, January 5 from 12 to 6 p.m., to a Kid Inventors Day on Saturday, January 17 that will present STEAM challenges and hands on activities. The library will hold a Pokémon Club on Saturday, January 10 at 11 a.m., Diamond Art Suncatchers on Wednesday, January 14 at 5:30 p.m. for ages 14 and older with registration required, and a Sparkling Snowman craft on Wednesday, January 21 at 6 p.m. for ages 10 and older also with registration required. The End of the Month Book Club will meet Monday, January 26 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, with copies available at the front desk.

Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult for library events. For details or to register, visit the library calendar at jdcpl.us, call the Dubois Branch Library at 812 678 2548, or find the branch on Facebook at "Dubois Branch Library." These programs serve as low cost educational and social infrastructure for the county, supporting literacy, intergenerational connections and modest economic spillovers through increased foot traffic to nearby businesses.
