Dubois Resident Arrested in Child Solicitation Probe, Authorities Say
Huntingburg detectives, with multiple local agencies and Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children partners, arrested a Dubois resident after a Cyber Tip from Instagram led to an investigation into alleged contacts with a minor. The arrest highlights online safety concerns for families in Dubois County and the role of coordinated law enforcement in protecting children.
Huntingburg Police detectives arrested 51 year old Christopher Wilson of Dubois on December 1, 2025 following an investigation that began with a Cyber Tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip, generated by Instagram and received on October 21, 2025, alleged communications between an adult male and a female minor under the age of 16. Detectives established Wilson as the user of the Instagram account and obtained additional evidence through search warrants and subpoenas to electronic and internet service providers.
Investigators executed search warrants the afternoon of December 1 in locations across Jasper and Dubois. Detectives from Huntingburg were assisted by investigators with the Jasper Police Department, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, the Ferdinand Police Department, and the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office. Numerous electronic devices were seized during the searches, and those devices will be examined by the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit for further evidence related to child solicitation and vicarious sexual gratification. Wilson was taken to the Huntingburg Police Department for interview and was then booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
Wilson faces one count of Vicarious Sexual Gratification, a Level 4 felony, and one count of Child Solicitation, a Level 5 felony. The investigation was led by Huntingburg detectives affiliated with the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Indiana ICAC is a multiagency effort led by the Indiana State Police that investigates and prosecutes people who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. Each year the task force evaluates thousands of tips, investigates hundreds of cases, and rescues dozens of children from ongoing sexual abuse.

For Dubois County residents the case underscores the importance of vigilance about online interactions and reporting suspicious behavior. The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. To report a crime involving the internet or other electronic means contact your local law enforcement agency.
The Huntingburg Police Department emphasizes that the filing of the information is merely an allegation, and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to analyze seized electronic evidence.
