Early Morning Box Truck Crash Near Gackle Sends One To Hospital
A box truck slid off Stutsman County Road 30 and tipped on its side early Tuesday, sending one person to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for evaluation. The incident, caused by icy roads and involving vehicle batteries, highlights winter driving risks for residents and local businesses.

One person is transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center after the box truck he was driving tips on its side Tuesday morning near Gackle, Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser said. The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. on the 5300 block of Stutsman County Road 30 while the driver was hauling items for a business.
Sheriff Kaiser said icy road conditions caused the box truck to slide off the roadway and tip onto its side. The Stutsman County Communications Center reported the individual was momentarily trapped in the vehicle before emergency responders freed him. Gackle Ambulance transported the person to Jamestown Regional Medical Center to be checked for injuries. The Jamestown Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Responders initially treated the incident as a possible hazardous materials situation because the vehicle was carrying vehicle batteries. That cargo prompted extra caution from crews while they assessed any risk from battery contents and secured the crash site. Authorities did not report any release of hazardous material in the initial account.
The crash underscores the challenges that winter conditions pose for drivers and for businesses that rely on early morning deliveries. County roads in rural Stutsman County can become slick in colder temperatures, creating hazards for commercial drivers, farm vehicles and personal travel alike. Local emergency services said careful handling of incidents involving batteries or other potentially hazardous cargo is important to protect first responders and residents.

For residents and businesses in the area, the event serves as a reminder to check road conditions, reduce speed on icy surfaces and ensure loads are secured before travel. The quick response by Gackle Ambulance and the Jamestown Fire Department limited the immediate danger and ensured the driver received prompt medical evaluation.
Details of the crash were reported by the Jamestown Sun staff and published November 25, 2025. Local authorities continue to advise caution on county roads as winter weather arrives.
