Earthbending, Archelos Make Myriad Landscape A Power Ramp

On December 8, 2025 I explored a Commander build that exploits Avatar earthbending to turn lands into explosive ramp engines. The deck pairs Archelos, Lagoon Mystic with earthbending effects and Myriad Landscape to generate repeated untapped land drops, feeding powerful landfall synergies and big token or creature payoffs.

I tested a Commander list that avoids building around a specific new legendary from Avatar. Instead the deck centers on the earthbending mechanic. Earthbending puts a plus one plus one counter on a land, makes that land a zero zero creature, and if the land would die or be exiled it returns to the battlefield tapped. That interaction creates a neat loop when combined with permanents that force things to enter the battlefield untapped.

Archelos, Lagoon Mystic is the pivotal commander. Archelos costs four mana and sits in Sultai colors as a Turtle Shaman that controls whether other permanents enter tapped or untapped based on its tapped state. That effect functions like Amulet of Vigor in commander form. When Archelos is untapped, other permanents enter untapped, which is the key to converting earthbends into immediate value.

Myriad Landscape became a surprising star. The uncommon land normally enters tapped, taps for colorless, and can be sacrificed for two mana to tutor two basic lands that share a type and put them into play tapped. By earthbending Myriad Landscape and ensuring it enters untapped, then sacrificing it, the deck produces large land based turns with basics entering untapped. Amulet of Vigor is included as a backup in case Archelos is removed, and there are ten cards in the 99 that earthbend to increase consistency.

The strategy leans into landfall triggers and cards that scale with multiple land plays. Tatyova, Benthic Druid and Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait provide card draw and incremental value from land drops. Token and landfall payoffs include Rampaging Baloths, Scute Swarm, and Avenger of Zendikar to convert repeated land entry into board advantage. Tutors such as Crop Rotation and Expedition Map help find sac lands and utility pieces quickly.

Practical value is immediate for commanders who like big mana turns and land based synergies. Casual tables will enjoy the spectacle of multiple basics entering untapped on a single turn. For players who want to tune this build there are clear forks. Move toward stax pieces to become more competitive, or prioritize indestructible lands and man lands to preserve value when lands are turned into attackers. I included a full decklist and commentary so you can adapt the concept to your playgroup and power level.
