Elon outlines winter break operations, safety and services
Elon issued a campus advisory on Dec. 9 that set operating schedules and safety resources for the upcoming Winter Break, which begins after final exams on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025. The advisory clarifies office closures, transportation pauses and available health and safety contacts, information that matters to students, staff and local residents who rely on campus services over the holidays.

Elon University published an administrative advisory laying out campus operations and safety resources for the Winter Break period. Undergraduate Winter Break begins after final exams on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, and the advisory detailed which offices will be closed and which services will remain available to students, faculty and staff.
The university will be closed from Dec. 20 to Dec. 28, 2025 and on Jan. 1, 2026, while remaining open on Dec. 29 to Dec. 31, 2025 and on Jan. 2, 2026. Campus Safety and Police will remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 336 278 5555. Crisis counselors will be on call throughout the break and reachable at 336 278 2222. Student Health Services and TimelyCare telehealth remain listed as resources for students who need medical or mental health support while classes are not in session.
The Elon Express bus service will pause after Dec. 12 and resume on Jan. 5, 2026, and Belk Library and Dining Services will operate on adjusted schedules with specific hours provided in the advisory. Students who plan to leave vehicles on campus were advised to use permitted lots or the specified alternative lots at Innovation Quad, the Historic Neighborhood lot and the south side Health Center lot, and to lock vehicles and remove valuables before departing.

For Alamance County residents who live near campus or who use Elon facilities, the advisory provides important timing and contact information. Local employees who work on campus should note the closure window for administrative offices, and families of students should be aware that some services will be reduced or altered between Dec. 20 and Dec. 28. The temporary pause in campus transportation may affect commuting plans and holiday travel for students who remain on campus or who return between academic sessions.
The advisory was issued as an operations notice intended for the campus community and includes links to detailed service hours and additional guidance. The published contacts and the listed lots provide practical steps for residents and students to minimize disruption and to maintain safety during the winter holiday period.
