Del Rio police responded at 8:22 p.m. on November 27 to a disturbance in the 800 block of East Gutierrez Street where officers found that a female resident had been assaulted inside her home. According to the initial investigation, a known man and woman arrived at the residence accompanied by other subjects and asked the victim to step outside to engage in a physical altercation. When she refused, the suspects forced their way into the home and assaulted her.

The victim reported that the suspects departed after discovering she had already called 911 and that police were en route. Before leaving the scene in an unknown vehicle, the suspects removed several items from the victim. EMS was requested for a medical evaluation after the woman suffered injuries to her face and head. Radio traffic from Del Rio officers was used to alert other units to the situation and to the suspects vehicle, which was possibly heading toward the area of Cienegas Terrace.

Deputies with the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and detained all occupants. Four people were arrested and booked in connection with the incident. Those arrested were identified as Salvador Ramos III, age 24, Esgardo Arturo Gutierrez, age 21, Ashley Nicole Castaneda, age 24, and Leticia Correa Gutierrez, age 49. They were charged with the offenses of Robbery and Burglary Intend other felony.

The case remains under investigation and charges are pending as the legal process moves forward. The arrests may provide near term reassurance to residents, but the episode has raised local concerns about forced entry crimes and personal safety within neighborhood homes.

Val Verde County communities, which include border facing cities and diverse populations, often rely on close cooperation between municipal police and the sheriff’s office to respond quickly to violent incidents. This event serves as a reminder for residents to report suspicious activity promptly to 911 and to work with law enforcement as investigations progress.
