The Holmes County General Health District and the Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne will offer a Healthy Aging Clinic for adults 60 and older on Tuesday December 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2600 Glen Drive in Millersburg. Appointments are required and the clinic is free of charge. No walk ins will be accepted.
The clinic will provide fall risk and balance screenings that are scheduled to take no more than 30 minutes per participant. Trained Holmes County Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and fall prevention ambassadors will conduct those screenings. With a participant’s agreement the Medical Reserve Corps can make referrals to the Falls Prevention Program of Holmes and Wayne to help people access follow up services.
Hearing screenings will be provided by Modern Hearing Solutions along with education and referrals as needed. Vision screenings will be performed by a certified adult vision screener who trained through Prevent Blindness Ohio. Vision checks are screening only and not diagnostic, and they will include information about potential referrals and state vision resources for follow up care.

The clinic is designed to help older adults detect mobility balance hearing and vision issues early so they can pursue interventions that preserve independence and safety at home. For many residents a short screening can identify simple changes that reduce fall risk or lead to timely evaluations by health care providers. The referral process will proceed only with participant consent to protect privacy and personal choice.
To schedule an appointment or to ask questions call Kerry MacQueen at the Holmes County General Health District at 330 674 5035 ext. 251. The event offers local seniors a practical opportunity to assess and address common health concerns in one convenient location.
