Fresno State Returns to Selland Arena, Game Streams Exclusively Online
Fresno State announced on November 25 that the Bulldogs will play at Selland Arena for the first time since 2009, with the Sunday November 30 game against CSU Bakersfield streaming exclusively on the KSEE24/CBS47+ app for connected televisions. The arrangement highlights questions about broadcast access and fan outreach as local viewers navigate a shift from traditional television to station controlled streaming platforms.

Fresno State’s men’s basketball team will step back onto the Selland Arena hardwood on Sunday November 30, a return to Downtown Fresno that university supporters have awaited since the program’s last game there in 2009. Officials announced the matchup against CSU Bakersfield on November 25, and local broadcaster KSEE24/CBS47 said the contest will be available only on its KSEE24/CBS47+ streaming app for connected televisions. Bakersfield viewers can access the stream through the KGET+ app.
Station leaders framed the platform as a way to serve viewers despite existing broadcast commitments that prevented traditional television carriage. Matt Morse, vice president and general manager at Nexstar Fresno, described the station’s digital strategy and the programming mix that the app carries. "We currently stream all of our newscasts on there," he said. "In addition to that, we also have different shows that are created either on our premises or are created and sent to us."
The single game stream raises practical and civic considerations for local residents. Access will be limited to connected televisions and not available on mobile devices, and viewers who need help downloading or troubleshooting the app are directed to tutorials on the station website. That distribution choice will affect how families, older residents, and others without smart televisions experience the event, and it underscores a broader shift in how local media deliver community sports and civic programming.

The broadcast will be simulcast with longtime Fresno State voice Paul Loeffler and analyst Matt Norville providing play by play for radio and television. "Any time you can have the voice of Fresno State, it’s always great to have," Morse said. "We’ve used Matt Norville before too when he did the football broadcast. He’s fantastic; they really do have a good team over there."
KSEE24 plans a 30 minute extended pregame show that will spotlight former Bulldogs and the program’s downtown history, drawing on decades of Selland Arena lore. Fresno State posted a 390 135 home record from the 1967 68 season through 2003, including the Boyd Grant era triumphs and a period under Jerry Tarkanian that produced seven straight postseason appearances. For many local fans the event is both a sporting contest and a moment of civic memory, with implications for downtown activity, university community ties, and how local institutions manage access to public events in a changing media landscape.
