Grand Traverse County Launches First Holiday Tree Stroll This Week

Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation will host its inaugural Holiday Tree Stroll on Friday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Civic Center. The free event will display eight decorated trees created by local groups, and will include hot chocolate provided by Hangry's along with a station where children can write letters to Santa. The Civic Center will also serve as an official Toys for Tots drop off location during the display period.

Participating organizations include Norte Youth Cycling, TART Trails, North Sky Raptor Sanctuary, and the Grand Traverse Conservation District, among others. The visible presence of local nonprofits and civic groups is designed to raise awareness of their missions while offering residents a low barrier opportunity to connect with volunteer and recreational options during the holiday season. Trees will remain on display through Jan. 24, providing an extended window for visitors and shoppers to engage with the exhibits.

The event represents a broader effort by county parks and recreation officials to diversify programming and increase use of the Civic Center as a community hub.
