Born August 17, 1946, in Buffaloville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Rose Taylor Hartloff. Her family said she enjoyed playing bingo and making potholders.

Hemphill was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Bill Hartloff. She is survived by a brother, Larry Cooper and his wife Kathy of Radcliff, Kentucky, a sister in law Audrey Hartloff of Holland, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale, with burial to follow in Dale Cemetery. Pastor Daniel Landin will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
