Huntingburg Council Approves Land Sale for New Locally-Owned Restaurant

Huntingburg is poised for a new addition to its local dining scene as the city’s Common Council approved the sale of two lots on Veterans Parkway during its September 2025 meeting, paving the way for a new restaurant owned by local residents. The lots, located directly west of the Arby’s, were sold for $174,095 to an Indianapolis-based real estate firm representing the new restaurant owners. This decision highlights the city’s ongoing efforts to stimulate commercial growth and enhance food options for residents and visitors.

The forthcoming restaurant is expected to bring new jobs and add vibrancy to the area’s central business corridor.

The sale was approved unanimously by the council, a reflection of community support for more local business development. Council documents and meeting coverage confirm that negotiations and approval concluded mid-September, with contract completion and initial preparations underway as September comes to a close. City planners are optimistic that breaking ground will follow promptly after necessary permitting and architectural reviews.

The identity of the restaurant owners has not yet been made public, and the opening date is still to be determined. As construction moves forward, city officials and business leaders expect the new establishment to foster economic growth on Veterans Parkway and to provide an additional gathering spot for the Huntingburg community.
