Residents and visitors are invited to fill the halls of the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse State Historic Site with song and holiday cheer on Sunday, Dec. 7. The event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. and will include Christmas caroling, light refreshments and tours of the courthouse. The site is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and is located at 504 3rd Ave. SE in Jamestown.
Organizers describe the program as family friendly and part of the ND250 commemoration. The community notice published in the Jamestown Sun on Nov. 19 provides the full schedule and contact information. Tours will be available during the two hour program, offering a chance for attendees to see the courthouse interior and learn about its historical role in the county since the building date reflected in its name.
Local cultural events like this typically contribute to downtown activity by bringing foot traffic to nearby businesses and by reinforcing Jamestown's identity as a historic center. For a local audience the event offers inexpensive seasonal entertainment and an opportunity to connect across generations in a prominent public landmark. The courthouse setting also underscores preservation priorities managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, linking community celebration to ongoing stewardship of historic assets.
