The City of Jasper has scheduled roadwork on two residential corridors for Friday, November 14, 2025, marking the start of a short maintenance project that will restore deteriorated pavement and improve ride quality for residents and businesses. The Jasper Street Department posted the notice in the City of Jasper Document Center and identified Calcar Paving as the contractor carrying out the milling operation.

Work will take place on E. 36th Street from the intersection with Mill Street to 500 feet east of Mill Street, and on 490 West from County Farm Road to 200 feet south of the intersection with Pebble Drive. The milling removes the top layer of asphalt in preparation for new paving. The notice says the milled streets will be resurfaced the following week, creating a two stage process that will shorten the duration of active construction zones but may concentrate traffic impacts during each phase.

The schedule is subject to weather and any unforeseen delays, and motorists may experience delays during both the milling and the paving process. Residents who use either corridor for commuting, school drop off, deliveries, or accessing local businesses should expect intermittent traffic control, lane closures or temporary detours while crews operate milling machines and paving equipment.

For local emergency services and school transportation planners the timing and sequencing of work will matter. Short term delays can affect bus schedules and deliveries, and the City asks drivers to allow extra travel time. Businesses on or near the work zones may see brief reductions in customer access during active operations, but the resurfacing is intended to deliver smoother, safer streets that support vehicle traffic and local commerce once complete.

The project follows routine pavement maintenance practices used across Indiana municipalities to extend roadway life and reduce longer term repair costs. By removing the worn top layer and applying fresh asphalt, the City aims to restore surface quality and address potholes or deterioration before they worsen.

Residents with questions or concerns can contact the Jasper Street Department at 812 482 1130 for more information. Contractors will monitor conditions and adjust the work schedule as needed, and the City will post updates if weather or other factors force changes to the plan.
