The Menominee Indian Tribe authorized a one time $200 General Welfare Assistance payment for all enrolled members as of November 20, 2025, with applications opening through the Tribal Members Portal on December 7, 2025. The Menominee Indian Tribe authorized a $200 General Welfare Assistance payment for every enrolled member recorded as of November 20, 2025. The Tribal Members Portal at www.menominee-nsn.gov will open Sunday, December 7, 2025 for members to apply. Adults age 18 and older will receive the payment by mailed check. Enrolled minors age 17 and younger will have their funds deposited automatically into trust accounts and do not need to submit a form.

Applications will be processed weekly. Applications received by 4:30 PM on Wednesdays will be processed that week and checks mailed on Friday. Applications received after that time will be processed the following week. The first mailing of checks is scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, and members should allow five to ten business days for delivery. Checks cannot be picked up in person. Members are instructed to ensure their mailing address is up to date with Member Services by December 4, 2025 to avoid delivery issues.

Members who are incarcerated will receive special handling. Those in the Menominee Tribal Jail will receive forms there. Inmates at other institutions must contact Member Services at (715) 799-5121 to request a mailed form and to update address information. Printed forms are available at Tribal Offices Central Reception, the Community Resource Center, the Aging Division, and elder meal sites. The portal is the most efficient method and is highly encouraged. Completed hard copy forms may be returned to Central Reception at Tribal Offices or mailed to Member Services, PO Box 910, Keshena, WI 54135. Off reservation members who cannot access the portal may request mailed forms from Member Services.

A list of returned checks will be posted on the Tribe website, the Menominee Nation News Facebook page, and the Tribe app when available. Individuals on that list may pick up checks with valid identification or power of attorney. For lost or replacement checks a 30 day waiting period applies before reissuance by the Finance Department.

The Tribe states the payment is not taxable income, not subject to child support interception, and is not classified as a per capita payment under Chapter 44 Debt Collection. The program is designed to comply with Section 139E of the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act. The Tribe will not provide tax preparation assistance or cover penalties if benefit recipients are audited, and recipients are advised to consult their own tax advisors. For portal issues contact the IT Help Desk at (715) 799-5117. For general information or check inquiries contact Member Services at (715) 799-5121, Tribal Administration at (715) 799-5154, the Chairman’s Office at (715) 799-5114, or Tribal Office Reception at (715) 799-5100.
