Millersburg Lions Establish Endowment to Sustain Community Services
The Millersburg Lions Club and the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation announced today, November 28, 2025, the creation of an endowed agency fund to provide long term support for the club's charitable programs. The move secures funding for scholarships, vision assistance, veterans banners and youth programs, and gives residents a permanent way to sustain services they have relied on for decades.

The Millersburg Lions Club established an endowed agency fund with the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation on November 28, 2025, creating a permanent funding vehicle for the club's community work. For more than 70 years the Lions Club has been a visible presence in Holmes County, known for concession stands at the fair, seasonal Christmas lights and a range of less visible services that include helping cover the costs of hearing aids, glasses and eye surgeries.
The new fund will provide ongoing resources for specific projects such as the Millersburg Lions Club Scholarship for graduating seniors from East and West Holmes school districts who are pursuing higher education. It will also back the Holmes County Heroes veteran banners, support for local Boy Scouts and youth programs, and other community initiatives that have historically depended on member effort, donations and fundraising events.
Institutionally the arrangement places the club s long term assets under the umbrella of a local community foundation, a structure that can offer professional fund management and continuity beyond the volunteer cycles that drive many small nonprofits. For local residents this matters because an endowment can smooth funding from year to year, protect scholarships and aid programs from fluctuating fundraising results, and make it easier for donors to contribute with defined intent.

The fund also expands civic participation by allowing anyone in the community to join efforts to sustain local causes. Contributions can be made through the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation or by sending a check to Holmes County Education & Community Foundation, attention Millersburg Lions Club Fund, 114 N. Clay St., Millersburg, OH 44654. By creating a permanent vehicle for donations the Lions Club aims to strengthen its capacity to serve veterans, students and neighbors in need for generations.
The endowment marks a strategic shift toward financial sustainability for one of Holmes County s longest serving civic organizations, and it provides residents a clear mechanism to continue supporting local services that contribute to the county s social and civic fabric.
