Baltimore experienced a concentrated series of shootings on December 3 and 4 that left several people injured and one person dead, according to a police advisory covering those dates. The most serious incident occurred on December 3 at 11 37 p.m. on the 5900 block of Belair Road where a 34 year old man was found with apparent gunshot wounds, transported to a hospital, and later died. Homicide detectives have taken the lead on that investigation.

Three additional shootings produced non life threatening injuries. On December 4 at approximately 4 35 p.m. two walk in victims arrived at area hospitals after a shooting on the 1000 block of West Lombard Street. A 23 year old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and a 22 year old man sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. Southwest district detectives are investigating that case. Earlier on December 4 at 12 56 a.m. officers were called to the 3500 block of Liberty Heights Avenue where a 37 year old woman was found with apparent gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. Northwest detectives are pursuing leads and asking for tips. On December 3 at 11 30 p.m. patrol officers reported a walk in shooting victim, a 40 year old man with a non life threatening gunshot wound, with the shooting location set to the 400 block of N. Glover Street and Southeast investigators handling the matter.

The advisory urges anyone with information to contact the appropriate district detectives or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1 866 7LOCKUP. Media Relations can be reached at mediarelations@baltimorecity.gov and 410 396 2012. These incidents are multiple, spread across several districts, and remain under active investigation.

Beyond the immediate law enforcement response, the cluster of shootings raises questions about resource allocation across police districts and the effectiveness of current violence reduction strategies. For residents, that translates into concerns about street level safety, confidence in investigative follow through, and the practical steps neighbors can take to support prevention. Civic engagement plays a direct role, whether through timely reporting of tips, participation in community policing meetings, or through public forums that press elected officials to prioritize clear strategies and funding for both policing and community based violence intervention programs. As detectives continue to investigate, transparency from law enforcement and robust community cooperation will be essential to solving these cases and shaping policy responses.
