New Monthly Health Clinics Begin at USC Salkehatchie Allendale Campus

USC Salkehatchie announced this week that it will host regular clinical services on its Allendale campus aimed at expanding health care access for the campus community and nearby residents. Beginning immediately, the Conference Center lot will serve as the monthly stop for a Low Country Health Care System mobile clinic, while Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center will deploy its Highway to Hope unit to the campus on a separate monthly schedule.

The Low Country Health Care System mobile clinic will be parked in the Conference Center lot on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services available during those visits include sick visits, physicals, well checks and immunizations. Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center’s Highway to Hope unit will provide services on the fourth Monday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., bringing community mental health resources directly to the campus footprint.

The new on-campus offerings are intended for students, faculty and staff, and they are also open to members of the Allendale community. For a rural county where transportation and distance to care can present obstacles, the regularly scheduled visits create predictable, nearby opportunities for routine medical needs and behavioral health support. Immunizations, physical exams and well checks provided by the mobile clinic address preventive care that can otherwise be delayed when residents must travel farther for appointments.

Locating the services on campus also supports students who may have difficulty leaving during class schedules or who lack off-campus transportation. The mental health unit’s monthly presence offers an additional local outlet for assessment, counseling resources and referrals that complement existing community services. By coordinating recurring visits on fixed weekdays of each month, the partners aim to make it easier for residents to plan ahead and incorporate care into their schedules.

USC Salkehatchie, Low Country Health Care System and Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center are collaborating to integrate these visits into campus life and the broader Allendale County health landscape. Residents and campus members are encouraged to consult USC Salkehatchie’s official communications for any updates on dates, required documentation or possible changes to the monthly schedule.

The initiative represents a practical step toward improving access to basic medical and behavioral health services in Allendale County by bringing care to a familiar, central location on campus and creating regular, reliable opportunities for treatment and prevention.
