Onvida Health and the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System have unveiled a joint project to construct a 30,000 square foot veterans clinic on Onvida Healths Foothills Campus at 11351 South Frontage Road. Construction is expected to start in December 2025, and officials project the clinic will open in summer 2027. When complete the facility will provide a range of services intended to serve veterans in Yuma County and nearby communities.
The new clinic is planned to house primary care services and women s health care, along with physical and occupational therapy. Veterans will also have access to audiology and optometry, plus laboratory and imaging services at the site. These additions are designed to increase local availability of veteran focused health services that are often concentrated at larger regional centers.
For Yuma County residents the development represents expanded options for care and reduced travel for routine and specialty appointments. The campus location on South Frontage Road places the clinic within reach of veterans who live and work in the city and county, and the co location with Onvida Health may allow for closer coordination between VA services and community health resources. The project was framed by hospital and VA officials as an investment in regional veteran health infrastructure, signaling a long term commitment to improving care access for the veteran population in this part of southern Arizona.
The construction phase will span roughly a year and a half, and the project will require site work, building development and later interior outfitting for medical services. Once operational the clinic will also require medical and administrative staff to run the expanded services, creating local employment opportunities in health care and support roles. The presence of on site lab and imaging can shorten the time between diagnosis and treatment for veterans who otherwise might need to travel for these services.
As the build proceeds over the next year and a half residents and veterans can expect updates from Onvida Health and the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System about timelines and service availability. The new clinic is positioned to strengthen local health infrastructure and provide more convenient access to a broad set of veteran oriented medical services when it opens in summer 2027.
