Pomerene Names Tony Malatesta Director of Laboratory Services

Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg announced the promotion of Tony Malatesta to director of laboratory services on Nov. 26, 2025. Hospital leaders said the move recognizes Malatesta's contributions since he rejoined Pomerene in 2023, and signals a continued push to expand and strengthen diagnostic services for the Millersburg and Pomerene patient community.

During his time back at Pomerene, Malatesta oversaw equipment upgrades and implemented workflow improvements that allowed several diagnostic tests to be brought back in house. Returning tests that had been sent to outside laboratories shortened turnaround times and improved the ability of clinical teams to make timely decisions for patient care. Those operational changes are central to the hospital's plans to enhance local laboratory capacity and reduce delays for routine and urgent testing.

As director of laboratory services Malatesta will continue to lead the laboratory staff and advance initiatives to broaden the range of diagnostics performed on site.
