Residents planning to adopt should prepare in advance. Pet adoption applications are available for download on the Department of the Environment website and may be submitted in person or by mail to 3750 Brown Station Road, Upper Marlboro, 20772. Prospective adopters can view available cats, dogs, and small animals online at www.24petconnect.com by entering the facility zip code 20772 and noting the Animal ID number for any animals of interest. For adoption questions callers can press 4 after calling the ASFAC main number.
The facility provides a range of services beyond adoption that are time sensitive for households and neighborhoods. For animal related emergencies, stray animal reports, animal bites, lost or found pets, carcass removal, deceased pet disposal, owner surrender appointments, and euthanasia appointments residents should call the ASFAC main line at 301 780 7200 and select the appropriate prompt for customer service. Temporary closures reduce same day access to services that can be urgent for families and public safety officials. Residents should plan around the announced midday closure and upcoming holiday shutdowns, prepare paperwork in advance, and use the online listings or phone prompts for time sensitive needs.
