Prince George's County Lists Holiday Closures, Adjusts Waste Schedules
Prince George's County announced that multiple county facilities and services will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, and that curbside and special collections will shift to accommodate the holiday. The changes affect landfill and recycling operations, bulky trash appointments, permitting services, and the county call center, and they matter for residents who need to plan disposal, recycling, or permitting around the holiday.

Prince George's County Department of the Environment announced that a range of county facilities and services will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, for the Christmas holiday and that several collection schedules will slide to later days that week. The closures include the Animal Services Facility at 3750 Brown Station Road, the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill and its Public Convenience Center, the Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center, the Prince George's County Organics Composting Facility, and the Prince George's County Materials Recycling Facility at 1000 Ritchie Road.
Electronics and household hazardous waste acceptance at the landfill will not be available on the holiday site day. Electronics can be dropped off at the Brown Station Road Convenience Drop off Center and at mobile events. Household hazardous waste will be accepted at mobile events only. Curbside collection schedules will shift for the holiday week. Regular curbside bulky trash collections for Tuesday and Wednesday will run as scheduled on Tuesday, December 23, and Wednesday, December 24. Collections that normally occur on Thursday, December 25, will slide to Friday, December 26. Collections normally scheduled for Friday, December 26, will slide to Saturday, December 27. Curbside recycling will follow the same slide pattern. Curbside electronics recycling is available by appointment every third Monday of the month. Bulky trash pick up by appointment, which covers white goods and scrap tires, will have no scheduled collections on the holiday but will resume on Friday, December 26.

The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement will be closed on Thursday, December 25 and will reopen with regular business hours on Friday, December 26. PGC311 will also be closed on the holiday and will resume operations on Friday, December 26 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents may submit service and issue requests online at PGC311.com while the call center is closed.
For residents, the holiday closures mean planning ahead for pet related needs, waste disposal, and permitting deadlines. Households and businesses that rely on county drop off locations or scheduled collections should note the one or two day shifts and schedule appointments ahead of time where required.
