The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board will convene its monthly session on Tuesday December 16 at 9 a.m. at District Headquarters, located at 2379 Broad Street in Brooksville. An informational workshop to review the Districts project and financial projections will follow, beginning at approximately 9 30 a.m. The workshop is open to the public, but will not be live streamed.
Residents who cannot attend in person may view the Governing Board meeting via the Districts live video stream. The video stream link becomes active and the live feed begins approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting time. Public comment will be taken only at the meeting location, and public input on issues not listed on the published agenda will be heard shortly after the meeting begins.
Agenda and meeting materials are posted one week before the meeting and can be found at WaterMatters.org by selecting the Meeting and Events Calendar. Local officials and community members monitoring water supply planning, flood control projects, agricultural water use, and environmental restoration initiatives should review those materials before the session to identify items of interest for in person comment.

The Governing Board meeting and the following workshop come at a moment when District project planning and financial projections will shape spending priorities and program delivery across Hernando County and neighboring jurisdictions. Decisions informed by the workshop can influence permit conditions, grant funding, and timelines for drainage and habitat work that affect private property, farming operations, and coastal and inland waterways. For residents concerned about stormwater management, groundwater levels, and the pace of restoration projects, the meeting offers a direct opportunity to hear staff briefings and to register concerns in person.
Practical information for attendees includes the District Headquarters address and the recommendation to arrive early so that public comment can be scheduled after the meeting opens. Remote viewers should access the live stream link shortly before 8 45 a.m. on December 16 to ensure connection. The Districts monthly session is the primary forum for policy decisions and budget review that shape water related outcomes in Hernando County.
