Spencer County Parishes to Honor Pastor After 16 Years
St. Boniface and St. Meinrad parishes will host an open house on December 7, 2025, to recognize Father Anthony Vinson, OSB, for 16 years of pastoral leadership. The reception gives parishioners, friends and neighbors an opportunity to express gratitude and learn about the transition as Father Anthony prepares for a new assignment.

St. Boniface and St. Meinrad parishes in Spencer County will welcome parishioners and neighbors to a reception on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. Central Time in the dining room at Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House. The open house will honor Father Anthony Vinson, OSB, who completed his assignment as pastor of the two parishes in September after 16 years of service.
Father Anthony has served as pastor to both parishes for more than a decade and a half, providing liturgical leadership and overseeing parish operations. A monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, he will begin a new assignment in the near future. The December gathering is intended as an occasion for the community to pause, express thanks, and share memories of his tenure.
The event is open to parishioners, friends and neighbors, and organizers say attendance is an informal way to recognize long term pastoral service and to support congregational continuity during leadership change. For many local residents the reception will offer a chance to mark milestones such as weddings, funerals and community initiatives that occurred under Father Anthony s guidance, and to acknowledge volunteers and staff who worked alongside him.

Changes in parish leadership have practical implications for daily parish life, including sacramental scheduling, pastoral care priorities and coordination with schools and local charities. Saint Meinrad Archabbey s role in assigning monastic clergy to regional parishes means transitions are part of institutional practice, but they also require outreach and communication to ensure congregational needs are met.
For Dubois County residents who worship in neighboring Spencer County parishes or who participate in regional programs, the open house is a reminder of the interconnected nature of faith communities across county lines. The reception offers a local opportunity to express gratitude, preserve community memory and look ahead to the next chapter for both Father Anthony and the parishes he served.
