The University of Wyoming hosted a three team meet in Laramie on Nov. 1 that highlighted depth, senior leadership, and several season best performances across both programs. The UW men dominated Colorado School of Mines by a 193.5 to 65.5 margin, while the UW women defeated Mines 203 to 53 and fell to Northern Colorado 140.5 to 121.5, giving the women a split day of results.
The men’s victory was emphatic, a 128 point margin that reflected scoring across diving, relays, and individual events. Jonah Mann led the diving corps for Wyoming and contributed key points on the boards. Relay strength and individual winners pushed the scoring well past the visiting Mines squad, with Simon Casey and Jackson Kogler cited among the top contributors in relay and individual races. Several Cowboys recorded season best marks, boosting confidence early in the dual meet season.
On the women’s side the Cowgirls showed both dominance and vulnerability. The 150 point win over Mines illustrated broad team depth as multiple scorers piled up points in relays and individual events. Against Northern Colorado the meet tightened, with Wyoming falling by 19 points in a competitive contest where margins in several events decided the outcome. Alicia Gonzalez, Natalie Six, and Ellie Fritscher were among the leading scorers for Wyoming, and the meet produced season best efforts for several team members as coaches look to fine tune lineups and race strategies.
Nine seniors were recognized at the meet, marking an important phase for both programs as veteran leadership helps integrate younger swimmers and divers. The senior class recognition underscores the experience on the roster and frames questions about depth and succession as the season progresses. Community support for senior nights and home meets often plays a role for recruiting and local engagement, and the program will lean on that backing heading into larger invitational competition.
Statistically the results indicate early season momentum for the men and mixed but promising signs for the women. Measured against conference and non conference benchmarks, the Cowboys posted a dominant team score, while the Cowgirls demonstrated the ability to produce high scoring meets and the need to convert close races into wins.
Wyoming will compete next at the Missouri Invite, scheduled for Nov. 19 to 22. Fans and community members are encouraged to follow the Wyoming swimming and diving program on social media for meet updates, entries, and results as the teams build toward midseason championship meets.
