The City of Yuma's Nov. 13 Road Report lays out a slate of public works projects and traffic impacts that will affect travel across the city in the coming weeks. The update highlights center median landscaping on 32nd Street, a multi phase waterline replacement on Arizona Avenue, sanitary sewer installation on Avenue 5E, and a cluster of localized street and cul de sac work scheduled for Nov. 19 and 20. County and utility crews will also be active on local streets, further shaping traffic patterns.
The center median landscaping work on 32nd Street between Avenue 3E and Arizona Avenue will require lane closures, creating slower traffic flows through that corridor. Arizona Avenue will undergo a multi phase waterline replacement between 17th Street and 24th Street, with a southbound closure in place between 17th Street and 20th Street as crews complete critical infrastructure upgrades. Avenue 5E will see sanitary sewer installation from 36th Street to 30th Place, and closures are expected in that area while work progresses.
The report lists additional street maintenance and cul de sac work scheduled for Nov. 19 and 20 on local blocks including 31st Street, 15th Street and 41st Drive among others. Residents in those neighborhoods should anticipate temporary closures and limited access during the work windows. County level projects will also intersect with city efforts, most notably Smucker Park Basin work that will affect sidewalks along Avenue A. Utility operations include CenturyLink manhole access at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 32nd Street, and a Southwest Gas line replacement project that the report says will continue through mid February.
For commuters, parents and local businesses the immediate impact will be longer travel times and altered routes for deliveries, school runs and daily errands. Pedestrians should be especially cautious near Smucker Park and other sidewalk work zones where detours or temporary closures may affect safe walking routes. Businesses along the affected corridors may experience reduced customer access during active construction periods, though these projects are intended to improve long term safety and infrastructure reliability for the community.
City officials advise motorists and pedestrians to follow traffic control signage and directions around work zones, and to allow extra travel time. The Road Report is a regular update intended to coordinate city, county and utility efforts, and residents are encouraged to check the City of Yuma website for the latest schedule and possible changes as projects advance.
