Jamestown police arrested 45 year old Keith Meidinger of Eldridge on Nov. 22, 2025 after a vehicle pursuit that began inside Jamestown city limits and continued onto county roads, according to Maj. Justin Blinsky, assistant chief of police for the Jamestown Police Department. Meidinger was taken to the Stutsman County Correctional Center and faces suspected charges including driving under the influence, reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, and having an open receptacle of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was being held to await formal charges as the investigation continues.

The incident began when the Stutsman County Communications Center received a report at about 6:08 p.m. of a possible intoxicated driver operating a vehicle in the wrong lane and swerving on 4th Avenue Northwest near Sunnyside Trailer Court. The caller identified the vehicle and followed at a safe distance until officers could arrive. At about 6:17 p.m. a Jamestown officer located the vehicle in the 500 block of 10th Avenue Southeast and briefly spoke with the driver before attempting an impairment investigation. Rather than cooperate, the driver refused to exit the vehicle and drove away in a 2008 Volvo SUV, prompting a pursuit.

Jamestown officers pursued the SUV through southeast, northeast and northwest portions of the city because of the danger an impaired driver posed to the public. The vehicle continued to elude police, then traveled west on Stutsman County Road 40 outside city limits, with speeds reported between 50 and 60 miles per hour. The pursuit concluded when the vehicle pulled into a farmyard several miles north of Eldridge and Meidinger was taken into custody without further incident. Residents at the farmyard reported they did not know the suspect.

The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed as more information is gathered.

For residents of Jamestown and surrounding Stutsman County communities the episode is a reminder of the risks posed by impaired driving on local streets and rural roads alike. The incident involved travel through populated neighborhoods and across county roads during evening hours, raising questions about response tactics and public safety while also illustrating the importance of citizen reporting when a dangerous driver is observed. Authorities encourage anyone with additional information or dash camera footage related to the case to contact the Jamestown Police Department as the investigation proceeds toward potential formal charges.
