Forsyth County Sheriff's Headquarters Moves to Courthouse Annex

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office completed a relocation of its headquarters on January 6, 2026, moving into the former Forsyth County Courthouse at the Courthouse Annex, 100 E. Courthouse Square. The new headquarters houses the Office of the Sheriff and a cluster of administrative divisions, and brings services that affect daily life and legal processes into a single, centrally located building.

Residents will find Ordinances and Permits services at the Courthouse Annex, including background checks, alcohol sales permits, solicitor permits and related functions. Civil Processing has also moved to the Annex; services there include property seizures, summonses, evictions, writs, temporary probate orders, protection orders, FiFas and condemnations. In addition to the Sheriff and Chief Deputy offices, the Annex now accommodates Professional Standards, Finance, Human Resources and the Operations Division. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office is accessed through the Courthouse Annex front door at street level.

The consolidation affects a broad cross-section of county residents. Individuals seeking protection orders, landlords and tenants involved in eviction proceedings, businesses applying for alcohol permits, and anyone requiring county background checks will now visit the Annex.
