Jasper City Offices Close for Holidays, Trash Pickup Adjusted
The city announced on December 9 that Jasper City Hall, the Street Departments, and Utilities Administrative Offices will be closed for Christmas and New Year observances, and that trash and recycling pickups will be rescheduled. Residents should note the revised pickup dates and place materials at the curb by 7 AM to avoid missed collections and holiday disruptions.

Jasper officials announced changes to municipal operations for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holiday periods, affecting office access, street services, and waste collection schedules. City Hall, Street Departments, and all Utilities Administrative Offices will be closed on Wednesday December 24 and Thursday December 25 for Christmas, and again on Wednesday December 31 and Thursday January 1 for New Year observance.
To accommodate the closures, the city is altering trash and recycling pickup dates for affected routes. Trash and regular recycling normally collected on Wednesday December 24 will be moved to Tuesday December 23. Routes scheduled for Thursday December 25 will shift to Friday December 26. For the New Year week, trash and cardboard recycling set for Wednesday December 31 will be collected on Tuesday December 30. Those with Thursday January 1 pickup will be served on Friday January 2.
The city emphasized that trash and scheduled recycling pickups for the remainder of those weeks will follow the regular schedule, and it advised residents to place trash and recycling at the curbside by 7 AM on collection days. These timing adjustments aim to keep service consistent while allowing municipal staff to observe the holidays.
Operations at the Jasper Street Department and the Resource Recovery Site will also pause on Saturday December 27 and Saturday January 3. Residents who planned weekend trips to the Resource Recovery Site should take note of those closures and arrange disposal earlier to avoid delays.

For Dubois County households, the changes mean planning ahead to ensure refuse and recyclables are set out on the revised dates, and confirming that cardboard and regular recycling are placed according to the new timetable. Businesses and apartment complexes that coordinate bulk pickups will need to communicate these shifts to tenants and service contractors to prevent missed collections over the holiday period.
The announcement provides clear dates and instructions to help minimize disruption during the busy holiday season. Residents are encouraged to mark the altered pickup dates on their calendars and set out materials by 7 AM on the rescheduled days.
