Thai Pickleball Leaders Forge Bangkok Partnership to Expand Access
On December 26, 2025, the Thai Pickleball Association met with the Bangkok Sports Association to coordinate the sport’s rollout across the capital following THPA’s official registration and approval by the Sports Authority of Thailand. The agreement sets the stage for municipal cooperation, public education campaigns, health-focused programming, and alignment with national sports policy that will affect courts, coaching, and community programming citywide.

Leaders from the newly registered Thai Pickleball Association met with Bangkok Sports Association officials on December 26 to map out a coordinated approach for expanding pickleball across Bangkok. The THPA delegation, led by President Napachorn Yontraruk and Vice-President Kamoltip Techasakulmat, sat down with Bangkok Sports Association President Thirachai “Big Pae” Wutthitham to discuss practical steps for turning growing grassroots interest into structured, sustainable programs.
THPA’s recent approval by the Sports Authority of Thailand gives the association formal recognition that can unlock access to government-supported facilities, coach certification pathways, and eligibility for sanctioned events. That recognition was central to discussions, as both organizations emphasized the value of aligning local initiatives with national sports policies to secure funding and ensure consistent standards for courts, equipment, and competition rules.
Municipal cooperation emerged as a priority. Bangkok’s sports office controls many public parks, community centers, and school gyms that can host courts and clinics. The meeting focused on identifying pilot districts where courts can be installed or adapted, scheduling shared-use hours to reduce conflicts with other sports, and developing instructor-led programs for different age groups. For community clubs this means clearer routes to request space and to partner with municipal officers on programming calendars.
Public education and health promotion were also key topics. Participants discussed campaigns to introduce basic rules, safety practices, and beginner clinics that highlight pickleball’s benefits for cardiovascular health, balance, and social connection. Organizers flagged the potential to target seniors and youth with tailored sessions that support active aging and school-based extracurriculars. Aligning these efforts with local health providers and community centers can help clubs demonstrate public health impact when applying for municipal support.

For players, coaches, and club organizers the immediate takeaway is that more structured opportunities are likely to follow in Bangkok. Expect pilot court installations, coordinated beginner clinics, and clearer pathways for coach training as THPA and the Bangkok Sports Association work together. Club organizers should prepare proposals that outline community benefits, facility needs, and training plans to present to district sports offices.
This coordination marks a turning point in institutionalizing pickleball in Thailand. With formal recognition by the SAT and an active partnership with Bangkok’s municipal sports leadership, the sport is positioned to move from informal play to organized programs that expand access, improve coaching standards, and strengthen ties between health, education, and sports bodies across the capital.
