USPTO Official to Host Webinar on Intellectual Property for Entrepreneurs
Mary Fuller, regional director for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, will lead a Wyoming SBDC Network webinar on intellectual property on Friday, December 12, from noon to 1 p.m. The event will give Albany County small business owners and startups practical guidance on patents, trademarks, copyrights, search tools and low cost legal help, which can strengthen local firms and improve prospects for growth and investment.

Small business owners, entrepreneurs and startups in Albany County will have an opportunity next week to deepen their understanding of intellectual property and the resources available to protect and leverage innovations. Mary Fuller, regional director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Western Regional Outreach Office and interim director for the Rocky Mountain Regional Outreach Office, will lead the Wyoming Small Business Development Center Network webinar titled A Conversation About USPTO on Friday, December 12, from noon to 1 p.m.
The one hour session will review all types of intellectual property, intellectual property identifiers, search resources, pro se assistance, free and reduced price legal services, and other resources. Organizers have set aside time for a question and answer session so attendees can raise specific concerns about patents, trademarks or copyrights and learn next steps for their businesses.
The Wyoming SBDC Network provides business expertise to help residents start, grow, reinvent or exit enterprises. The statewide network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funding from the Wyoming Business Council and partial support through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. For Albany County leaders seeking to commercialize ideas or to protect brand assets, understanding the federal system can reduce costly mistakes, clarify options for self representation, and point to affordable legal help.

Local implications include stronger protections for innovations developed at area startups, clearer pathways for licensing or commercialization, and improved readiness to approach investors who often expect clarity around patents and trademarks. The webinar will be relevant to inventors, makers, technology firms, arts and media entrepreneurs and any small business that relies on unique products or branding.
To register, visit the Wyoming SBDC Network registration page or contact Tyler Schanck, marketing, communications and database manager for the Wyoming SBDC Network, at (307) 343 0925 or tschanck@uwyo.edu. The session offers practical, regionally tailored information from a USPTO official that can help Albany County businesses translate ideas into protected, investable assets.
