Baltimore Man Arrested in November Marshall Street Homicide
Police arrested 24-year-old Warren Avery Mackey on January 5 in connection with a November 13 shooting that killed 37-year-old Kennard Miller and wounded another man on the 1100 block of Marshall Street. The arrest and murder charge bring a development in a case that has weighed on the Southern District community and highlight ongoing efforts to hold suspects accountable and encourage public tips.

Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested 24-year-old Warren Avery Mackey on January 5, 2026, in the 6400 block of Baltimore National Pike and transported him to the Central Booking Intake Facility. Mackey has been charged with First-Degree Murder for the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Kennard Miller and the attempted killing of a 35-year-old male, incidents that occurred on November 13, 2025, in Baltimore’s Southern District.
The original incident took place at approximately 9:53 p.m. on November 13, when Southern District officers responded to the 1100 block of Marshall Street for reports of a shooting. Officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds and both were transported to an area hospital. Medical staff pronounced the 37-year-old man deceased. Homicide detectives subsequently assumed control of the investigation and worked to identify and arrest a suspect.
Local residents described the November shooting as another painful episode in a neighborhood already grappling with public safety concerns. The arrest may offer some measure of relief for neighbors and the family of the deceased, but community leaders and residents note that a single arrest does not resolve broader issues of violence and trauma in the Southern District. The case will proceed through the criminal justice process, with prosecutors responsible for proving charges in court.
Homicide detectives continue to seek information from the public and ask anyone with tips to contact them at 410-396-2100. Those who wish to remain anonymous may use the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-866-7LOCKUP or submit an anonymous text tip through the Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland website. Media inquiries may be directed to Media Relations at mediarelations@baltimorepolice.org or 410-396-2012.
As the investigation moves into the prosecutorial phase, neighbors and advocacy groups say attention should remain on victim support, community safety programs, and channels for safe, anonymous reporting. The arrest underscores the role of coordinated investigative work while also reminding Baltimore residents that preventing future violence will require sustained community and institutional engagement.
