Garnet Health Doctors confirmed that Marinel Ardeljan, DO joined the organization as a part time trauma surgeon on December 11, 2025. A board certified general surgeon with a specialization in trauma and acute care surgery, Dr. Ardeljan brings more than 16 years of experience working at Level II and Level III trauma centers and will provide trauma call coverage for Garnet Health Medical Center.

Dr. Ardeljan most recently served at Northwell Health Huntington Hospital, where he helped establish and secure accreditation for that hospital as an American College of Surgeons Certified Level III Trauma Center. His leadership included quality improvement work that led to measurable improvements in patient outcomes and reductions in morbidity and mortality rates, according to the announcement from Garnet Health. He will also see post operative and discharged trauma patients at Garnet Health Doctors surgical practice on the third floor of the Garnet Health Medical Center Outpatient Building.

His academic and training credentials include a Doctor of Osteopathy from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and completion of general surgery residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He is certified by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and maintains active certification as an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor. Throughout his career he has mentored more than 50 residents and physician assistants, reinforcing multidisciplinary collaboration and clinical training.

For Middletown and the wider Orange County community, the addition of an experienced trauma surgeon offers several practical benefits. Expanded trauma call coverage can decrease wait times for surgical decision making during critical cases, and the presence of a surgeon who follows discharged trauma patients improves continuity of care after hospital stays. His background in setting up an accredited Level III trauma program suggests potential contributions to clinical protocols and patient safety initiatives at Garnet Health.

Dr. Ardeljan will work part time within Garnet Health Doctors while covering trauma responsibilities at Garnet Health Medical Center. Patients seeking post operative follow up or trauma related outpatient care can find his practice on the third floor of the medical center outpatient building.
