Helena Media Drive Brings Holiday Donations to Local Charities
MTN News organized a Day of Giving on December 9, collecting food, toys and cash at two Helena grocery stores to benefit Toys for Tots, Helena Food Share and The Salvation Army. The one day effort offered an in person donation option and online links for residents who could not attend, helping local relief programs during the holiday season.

On Tuesday, December 9, MTN News staged a Day of Giving in Helena, accepting donations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at two grocery store drop off points. Volunteers collected new, unwrapped toys, nonperishable food items, frozen turkeys and cash at Safeway, 611 N. Montana Avenue, and Albertsons, 3151 N. Montana Avenue. The drive directed proceeds to three local charities, Toys for Tots, Helena Food Share and The Salvation Army.
Representatives from the beneficiary organizations were scheduled to be on site to accept donations and to thank contributors. For residents who could not deliver items in person, the KTVH community page provided logistical details and links through host pages for online contributions to the named charities. The combined in person and online format expanded access for donors across the county and provided multiple channels for immediate holiday relief.
Local charities depend on concentrated holiday drives to meet increased demand for food and toy assistance, and media coordinated events can boost visibility and participation. Helena Food Share provides emergency food distribution for households in need, Toys for Tots supports toy distribution for children, and The Salvation Army operates broader holiday assistance programs. A single day of focused collection does not substitute for year round support, but it can ease short term pressure on distribution networks and help local agencies prepare for seasonal need.

The event also highlights the role local media can play in civic engagement by mobilizing resources and connecting donors with vetted charities. Residents can review the KTVH community page links to confirm contribution options and to find alternate ways to support the beneficiary organizations throughout the holiday period. As agencies handle increased volumes, transparency in how donations are processed and distributed will matter to donors and to the broader community relying on these services.
