On December 12, 2025 Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released an initial package of 19 photographs they said were taken from the Palm Beach estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The committee characterized the production it is reviewing as containing more than 95,000 images, and hours after the first disclosure the committee made additional files public, with media outlets reporting that roughly 70 more photographs were released the same day.

The initial selection included three photographs that show President Donald Trump. Some of those images depict Mr. Trump alongside women whose faces were blacked out, and committee materials offered no immediate explanation for the redactions. News organizations that reviewed the material identified a wider set of people and scenes in the packages released on December 12. Among those reported to appear are former President Bill Clinton, business and public figures including Steve Bannon, Bill Gates, Richard Branson and Woody Allen, and members of the British royal family including Prince Andrew. One broadcaster noted that a picture involving Prince Andrew and King Charles appears to be an official Getty photograph taken at a public event.

The released images also include photographs of Jeffrey Epstein and interior views of rooms on his private island. Reporters who examined the material described a room containing what appears to be a dentist’s chair and walls displaying masks. Some outlets reported that certain photos showed sex toys. Media coverage emphasized that many of the people pictured have previously denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.

The committee’s top Democrat, Representative Robert Garcia, framed the release as part of oversight of powerful networks surrounding Epstein. Representative Garcia said in a statement, “These disturbing photos raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world.” The committee said it will continue to review the larger production of material as both congressional staff and newsrooms sift through the files.

Reporting on the releases underlined several caveats. News organizations cautioned that publication of photographs is not an allegation of criminal conduct by those pictured, and that the images themselves do not establish illegal activity. CNN and other outlets noted longstanding social ties between Mr. Trump and Epstein in past decades, while also observing that Mr. Trump has not been accused of criminal conduct in connection with Epstein.

The photo disclosures came as the Justice Department faced an imminent deadline to make additional Epstein-related files public, and the committee’s action revived public and political attention to both the federal review and congressional oversight. The releases raise questions about transparency, privacy and the handling of potentially sensitive material by investigative bodies and media organizations. As the Oversight Committee and the Justice Department continue to process the larger trove, newsrooms reported they were contacting people identified in the photographs for comment and that further disclosures and scrutiny are likely.
